This was more a return to the roots of AnimA. We returned to the roots and created a prerendered 3D set into which displays were mapped with images of the presentors just like with AnimA II. Stylish, simple but effective.

Presented by Gunnar Mackensen and Jörg-Christian Knochen using a conventional studio setup.

AnimA VI

This was technically and conceptionally the most complex AnimA show ever prodouced. We styled everything to match the look and feel of a well known american cartoon show including a small story that integrated clips and guests into the theme of the show. Presented by Jörg-Christian Knochen, Malama Altoguo, Guido and Blender.

AnimA V

For this show we payed hommage to M. C. Escher’s Relativity artwork and built our whole set around this idea of a room where everything could be upside or sideways or any way up.

Presentation again in the Orad virtual studio with our presenters Gunnar Mackensen and Jörg-Christian Knochen placed at all kinds of weird and funny positions.

Extensive coverage of the animago 2000 award, held at the fmx 2000 in Stuttgart. Round about 10 entries from Ilmenau had been entered for the competition.
Old ruins rebuilt to their original form in another architectural visualisation.

Utilising the new virtual studio at the University of Ilmenau we again use new and experimental applications to show you the world of 3D and visual effects.

Presentation was done in a Orad virtual studio with realtime camera tracking with a realtime 3D set. Presented by Gunnar Mackensen and Jörg-Christian Knochen inside ancient greek ruins floating in space.

Believe it or not but there once was a palace in Ilmenau. We show you it was recreated in an architectural visualisation.
We take the character animation a step further and show you how we did a full body motion capture for the virtual character “Marvin”.
How does the human eye work? Where is the eardrum? A student research project visualises these perceptual organs in this virtual journey.
A virtual dive through the virtual studio. Well, it sounds weird but it’s very much worth a look.

AnimA III

This show centered around the fmx’99 in Stuttgart with lots and lots of animations from the animago that was held during the fmx.

Presentation was done live in a conventional studio for the very first (and last) time with Axel Gärtner and Jörg-Christian Knochen moderating. We also had a call-in lottery with sponsered prizes from the fmx’99.

AnimA II

The second show already continuing several established elements but still including new and experimental content. This was also the beginning of our long running architectural visualisation section.

Presentation was done in a 3D set with a projection plane of Axel Gärtner (that was shot inside Axel’s cupboard) guiding through the show.

AnimA I

The first AnimA show ever. With all possibilities open to us, but only limited resources available, this is what became of this first experiment.

Presentation was done mostly off-screen, occasionally using 3D avatars and a very young Axel Gärtner.

Three mediatechnology students show us the computer animations they made during their internships at various companies.
